Bono will not attend Mexico and US Grand Prix

Due to medical reasons, Lewis Hamilton’s race engineer, Peter Bonnington will not attend the Mexico or United States Grand Prix.

Mercedes are hopeful the engineer will be back in time for the Brazilian Grand Prix scheduled for mid November.

In “Bono”‘s absence, the role of Hamilton’s race engineer will be taken over by his performance engineer, Marcus Dudley, who usually supports Lewis from the team’s factory in Brackley.

Bonnington and Hamilton have paired on four of the driver’s championship titles at Mercedes, working together since Lewis Hamilton joined the team in 2013.

Peter is by far the best known race engineers on the grid, known for his nickname “Bono” which Lewis refers to over the team radio. It’s unfortunate that Bonnington cannot attend the Mexican Grand Prix, as it may be a race where Hamilton clinches his 6th driver championship title.
